Sudoku Beginner Guide
Sudoku is a pure logic puzzle that requires no math. No addition, no subtraction — just reasoning. Fill a 9×9 grid so that each row, column, and 3×3 block contains the numbers 1 through 9 exactly once.
Even if math isn't your strength, you'll do just fine. All you need is logical thinking — the ability to see that "only this number can go here."
Basic Rules in 1 Minute
Each row must contain the numbers 1–9 exactly once. No duplicates in a row.
Each column must contain the numbers 1–9 exactly once. No duplicates in a column.
Each thick-bordered 3×3 box must contain 1–9 exactly once.
Numbers already on the board cannot be changed. They are your starting clues.
Finding Your First Move
Look for areas with the most numbers. Find rows, columns, or blocks that already have many numbers filled in.
Find cells that can only take one number. Look at each row, column, and block to see which numbers 1–9 are possible.
Use pencil marks for candidates. When a cell has multiple possibilities, use the note feature to write small candidate numbers.
Which Difficulty to Start With?
